What kind of Internet services are offered by Aircel?
We offer two flavors of Internet service – Dedicated Internet and Shared Internet. Dedicated Internet service as the name suggest is aligned to a single user. Shared Internet is a pool of Bandwidth that is shared between multiple customers.
How many Points of Presence does Aircel have in India?
Aircel has 100+ PoPs in India covering almost the all major geographies in India.
How many Internet Gateways does Aircel have in India to exit the International traffic out of India?
The entire requirements of Enterprise Internet are being met through the submarine gateways at Chennai and Mumbai.
How will Aircel provide Internet access to locations where it is not present?
Indian geographies are covered by Aircel’s own network. Customer can be connected to Aircel’s network using any last mile media (Lease Line, Ethernet, WiMax and P2P radio).
How many IP Addresses will be given by Aircel to the customer? Will Aircel provide or help in providing extra IP blocks to the customer over and above the set limit?

The subscribers shall be responsible to obtain its own IP address and domain name from the competent authorities. In case the IP addresses are taken from Aircel, the same are non-portable and have to be returned to Aircel at the termination of services contract.

Aircel will supply /29 IP Address (Block of 8) for any requirement of 512 Kbps and more without any justification. With proper justification in terms of network diagram from customer, Aircel may provide more IP addresses.

What does customer get if he subscribe to 2Mbps (1:4). What is the nature of this bandwidth?
Customer would get committed 512Kbps burstable to 2Mbps, provided the application demands. Bandwidth is symmetric and the customer can get upto minimum 512Kbps both on inbound and outbound burstable to 2Mbps on best effort basis.
What does customer get if he subscribe to 2Mbps (1:1). What is the nature of this bandwidth?
Customer gets committed 2Mbps (1:1), provided the application demands. Bandwidth is symmetric and the customer can get upto minimum 2Mbps both on inbound and outbound.
Can a customer sell 2Mbps (1:1) as 4 Mbps in one direction?
No, all bandwidth sold is symmetric by default hence 2Mbps (1:1) means 2Mbps inbound and 2Mbps outbound only and not 4Mbps one way. In case a customer has specific requirement of upload only then asymmetric bandwidth can be offered to the customer.
How will Aircel monitor its backbone?
Aircel has a state of the art Network Operation Center (NOC) using Network Management tools for fault and performance management. 24x7 monitoring of the Aircel network would be done from our existing NOC at Chennai.
Can customer view his network performance online?
For enterprise corporate customer, MRTG based utilization report is made in NOC. Customer can be given URL using which he can login and check the utilization.
Can Aircel provide the entire path that will be traveled by customer’s packet (from CPE to CPE including HOP address)?
Aircel can provide the entire path traveled by the packet from Customer premise in India to Aircel’s peering point in the foreign location.
Are there any different SLA parameters/ commitments for Shared Internet?
SLA parameters are same for both dedicated and shared services. However, the commitments offered to the customer will vary depending on the product variant opted by the customer.
How will Aircel calculate Uptime for the customer?
Network Availability =

Total Time – Maintenance – Incidence of Disaster
– Outage on Customer’s Behalf)
Does Aircel’s Internet Service offer any Security Bundle package (including Gateway Level Anti Virus/ Anti Spam, Content/ URL Filtering, etc)?
At present, Aircel doesn’t offer such bundle. It is recommended that customer deploys a dedicated security hardware/ software for all his gateway/ LAN level security.
Is traffic re-routing automatic or manual?
Internet traffic re-routing is done automatic and is achieved by OSPF routing protocol implemented on backbone core routers but settings have to be done while provisioning the link for the first time.
Is signed copy of regulatory T&C necessary for all internet orders?
Yes, this is a mandatory document that has to be signed by the customer before using Aircel Internet Service.
If customer has its own IP address and AS number then what is the minimum number of IPs (at each location) that customer has to give for BGP/ static routing?
Customer has to give minimum /24 IP pool to be announced on Internet. There is no limitation on number of IPs per location. For static routing also, Aircel can originate customer IP pool (minimum /24) from its network and distribute same over different lastmile of customer as per his requirement.
